Generate Tracking Links
The Quick Generate tab on the links page is your main workspace for creating tracking links. It provides a streamlined, step-by-step process to generate links for individual videos or bulk operations across all your videos.
Generate Tracking Link
Step 1: Destination URL
Enter the URL where you want to send your traffic. This is typically your landing page or offer page. You can also use external affiliate links, all public links are supported.
Step 2: Select Video
Choose which YouTube video(s) you want to create tracking links for.
Options:
Single Video Mode
- Select one specific video from the dropdown
- Create a single tracking link for that video
- Allows custom back-half (custom short URL ending)
- Supports auto-update of YouTube description
All Videos Mode (Bulk)
- Automatically searches all your videos for the destination URL
- Creates unique tracking links for each video that contains the URL
- Custom back-half is disabled (links are auto-generated)
- Descriptions are automatically updated for all videos
Note: Bulk mode is ideal when you want to create links for multiple videos at once, but you'll need to ensure the destination URL appears in each video's description.
Step 3: Link Settings
Configure your tracking link type and customizations.
Link Type
Choose between two link types:
- Offer Links - Links associated with a specific offer (requires a thank you page)
- Affiliate Links - General tracking links without offer association (usually external links)
When to use each:
- Use Offer Links when you want to track conversions and associate clicks with a specific product or service. This requires the tracking script to be present for tracking the conversion on the thank you page.
- Use Affiliate Links for general tracking without conversion tracking. e.g. affiliate links, external links, general links
Offer Selection (Offer Links Only)
If you selected "Offer Links", you'll need to choose an offer from the dropdown. This links your tracking link to a specific offer for conversion tracking.
Short Link Builder
Customize your short link:
- Domain Selection - Choose which domain to use for your short link
- Custom Back-Half - Set a custom ending for your short URL (e.g.,
yoursite.com/my-custom-link) - Only available in Single Video mode
- Disabled in bulk mode (links are auto-generated)
You can add your own custom domain in the settings to your profile.
Auto-Update YouTube Description
Single Video Mode: - Check the box to automatically update the video's YouTube description with your tracking link - The link will be added or updated in the description automatically.
Bulk Mode: - Descriptions are automatically updated for all videos (no checkbox needed) - All videos will have their descriptions updated with their respective tracking links.
Generate Link
Once you've completed all steps, click the "Generate Link" button (or "Generate Links for All Videos" in bulk mode).
Bulk Operations
The right column provides powerful bulk operations for managing your videos and links at scale.
Refresh Video Descriptions
Sync all video metadata and descriptions from YouTube API to ensure your data is up to date.
When to use:
- After making manual changes to YouTube descriptions
- To sync the latest video titles and thumbnail
- To refresh metadata after uploading new videos
- If you notice discrepancies between contentgrove and YouTube
Verify Links in Descriptions
Check if all tracking links are present in their associated video descriptions to detect accidental deletions.
Use case:
- After editing YouTube descriptions manually
- To ensure links weren't accidentally removed
- To audit which videos have tracking links in their descriptions
